The Certified Government Meeting Professional designation ("CGMP") is designed for planners and suppliers whose work is governed by the rules and regulations of the federal government. Individuals who have earned their CGMP have obtained the highest designation available that is specifically for government meeting professionals.

Current Chapter Monthly Education Programs

 

By attending chapter education programs, members are provided the opportunity for the highest quality training in the government meeting profession. Each chapter is responsible for presenting programs based on our seven core competencies.  Also, face-to-face program attendance is a key portion to the CGMP recertification process.  For more information regarding recertification, visit,

The Programming Core Competencies that will be covered at our monthly meetings are as follows:

 

Core Competency 1: Education/Programming – Includes speaker selection, program content, setting goals and objectives, diversity in meeting planning, needs assessments and program evaluations.

Core Competency 2: Facilities and Services – Includes working with convention and visitors bureaus, planning international meetings, completing an RFP successfully and finding the best site for your next meeting.

Core Competency 3: Logistics – Includes transportation, insurance needs, specifications guides and function room set up.

Core Competency 4: Financial and Contract Management – Includes financial management, per diem rates, sponsorships, contract language and attrition planning.

Core Competency 5: Technology – Includes web 2.0 tool integration, social media, smart phones in meetings and event registration software.

Core Competency 6: Leadership – Includes supervising down and up, managing teams and facing change.

Core Competency 7: Ethics – Includes impartial
